Glasgow Weekend Breaks

The City of Glasgow, and indeed the whole Greater Glasgow & Clyde Valley area is one of Europe's most exciting and beautiful destinations, which combines the energy and sophistication of a great international city with some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery.

Glasgow is such a diverse, architecturally stunning, vibrant and cultural city that throughout this website we have only been able to preview some of the many many highlights to be enjoyed here. As they say, ‘If it’s happening in Scotland, it's happening in Glasgow’.

And Glasgow is a city with big ambitions too.  In the world of sport, that ambition is now directed towards a bid by the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland to host the 20th Commonwealth Games in 2014, in Scotland, in Glasgow.

And throughout the site we have drawn attention to a number of useful links particularly for eating out and enjoying the vibrant city of Glasgow, its culture, architecture, great sporting events, shopping, and best attractions. Here we provide a summary, a little compendium for your convenience.

We do hope you find it useful. If we can provide any further assistance towards your next visit to or stay in Glasgow, visit the contact us page

Weather

There is so much to see, do and enjoy, in the city of Glasgow itself  - and Greater Glasgow, Clyde Valley, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire and the surrounding areas - and throughout the whole of Central Scotland - even in the unlikely event of inclement weather !

Overview of Glasgow weather
Glasgow is on the same latitude as Moscow but because it is close to the warm Atlantic Ocean shores and lies in the path of a prevailing westerly wind, it has a significantly more moderate climate. Glasgow in fact enjoys a very stable climate with quite warm summers and mild winters. Glasgow - and the west of Scotland - tends to be more cloudier than the rest of the country, however, the city is also warmer than most of Scotland as it is sheltered by hills to the north and south-west.
